Genesis Revolutionary Engine Metal Conditioner
The continuing war on friction has been waged since the beginning of the industrial age. It has been addressed by many different products over the years, products that had wildly exaggerated claims as to efficacy in internal combustion engines.
These products, called additives, were added to the engine oil to try and impart EP (Extreme Pressure) properties to oil. These EP additives were developed to help the oil keep the metal parts from making sliding contact with each other thus reducing friction. These additives, i.e. PTFE, halogenated paraffins, hydro-carbons, ferrous ions, phosphate esters, zinc dithiophates, etc., while exhibiting excellent anti-friction properties created other problems that were more serious than the friction problem.. Phosphate esters are considered to be carcinogenic; halogenated hydrofluoric acids in engines; the dithiophosphates and the sulfonated hydrocarbons may form sulfuric acid in engines; the ferrous ions can dissolve and generate hydrogen which reacts with additives in engine oils to form metal corroding acids.
Although all of these types of EP additives are known to create engine or health problems, they are still widely used in all the additives which are heavily advertised on television in infomercials and other media vehicles. All of these products claim Bonding To Metals in their ads. They fail to inform the consumer that the bond is a mere chemical bond, a very weak bond that can be formed much like using a dishwashing detergent on a kitchen knife. These bonds are easily removed by towels, hot water or solvents. This distortion of the scientific meaning of chemical bonds by the advertisers of additives is gross deception practically amounting to consumer fraud. All of these products merely chemically bond to the metal and have to be replenished on EVERY OIL CHANGE or any benefit attributed to these additives will be immediately lost.
